Most Popular Television Comedy Show 2021-22

Television in India still remains the best stressbuster for a lot of people, especially from the working class. The go-to genre on television has primarily been comedy or sit-coms. These comedy shows acquire prime time owing to this reason only.

IFTA is a brainchild of PolBol Media, which has been started with an intent to acknowledge and acclaim the versatile talent in the Indian Film, Television, OTT and Music industries. The market research team at IFTA deeply understands and analyse the interest of the public through its primary and secondary market research. Based on this research the team creates a list of potential list of nominees, which is then sent to the public domain for the viewers to vote.

Unlike other award shows, there is no jury or panel on board that re-considers or even tries to withhold the decision of the audience. It is just Public Votes who decide the fate of the winner. IFTA maintains transparency and hence it is the India’s first People’s Choice Award.

Television and Comedy

Television in India still remains the best stressbuster for a lot of people, especially from the working class. The go-to genre on television has primarily been comedy or sit-coms. These comedy shows acquire prime time owing to this reason only.

Therefore, a bond is created between these shows and the viewers. Why are comedies superior to any other genre? As mentioned earlier crime, thrillers, mysteries, and horror are genres that one usually doesn’t prefer to wrap the day with. To keep it light and to end up in bed with a smile people usually watch comedies. Hence, comedy shows become significant.

Laugh out Loud as the Winner is…….

Can a show lose relevance in fourteen years? Seems like this show is not going to lose the relevance, love, and appreciation that it gets from its viewers anytime soon. It is hard to maintain the inherent comedy in a show like this where things can get repetitive after a point in time. But not with Sony Sab’s iconic show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The show won the award for Most Popular TV Comedy Show 2021-22 with 4310 public votes. Jethalal, Daya Jethalal, Tapu, and Babita, are some of the characters that the audiences won’t let go of any time soon. The humorous chemistry between Daya and Jethalal is the selling factor of this show. Together, they have given the viewers some amazing laugh-out-loud moments and memes that trend on social media time and again.

Sony TV’s most popular show, The Kapil Sharma Show got 3036 votes to rank second on the list. Indian families wait for the weekends to watch this show together. The popularity of the show is of another level and the humour is never-ending. Everything about this show is special, be it the solid character played by Kiku Sharda, or Archana Puran Singh’s loud and super famous waves of laughter.

The third spot is again attained by Sony Sab’s show Maddam Sir which got 1142 votes. The show set in the cop universe keeps the viewers giggling with its innate humour. The leads Gulki Joshi as S.H.O. Haseena Malik and Yukti Kapoor as S.I. Karishma Singh shares some of the best sequences together.

Some honourable mentions

Number four is Wagle Ki Duniya again from Sony Sab. Seems like Sony Sab knows how to tickle the funny bones of the audiences, as they are clearly acing the comedy genre.
