A lot of actresses have shown their dissent time and again for the kind of roles they have been offered in films. Even today, producers think multiple times to mount a female-driven Bollywood film on a huge budget.

IFTA has came up with the unique thought of creating a first-in-its-kind award show in India that will solely be based on public voting. To achieve this a market research team is set out to understand the likabilities of the audiences. Based on their deep primary & secondary market research and analysis lists of nominees across various categories are created.
These lists are basically nominations that are then circulated in public for the public voting. Each category will have one winner with the maximum number of votes. These categories are carved out of the Film, Television, OTT and Music industry in India.
A lot of actresses have shown their dissent time and again for the kind of roles they have been offered in films. Even today, producers think multiple times to mount a female-driven Bollywood film on a huge budget. As OTT doesn’t run in haste for Boxoffice numbers, so OTT does not just enhance the horizon for these talented actresses to perform, but they can also work on projects that are ambitious both in writing and scale.
Over The Top (OTT) platforms have also proved helpful in reviving the careers of yesteryear actresses like Sushmita Sen in Aarya, Raveena Tandon in Aranyak, and so on. To motivate the leading ladies IFTA is all set to honour the Most Popular OTT Lead Actress in 2021-22.
This year she made the entire country go “oo anta va ma va”, and in 2021, she appeared in a show that was already popular. It is hard to make room for yourself when there are veterans like Manoj Bajpayee on the other side. But Samantha Ruth Prabhu made sure that she was here to stay. With 1424 public votes Samantha Ruth Prabhu topped the chart for her performance in The Family Man 2. She played the feisty, quick, kill-machine, Raji who made the audiences wonder how on Earth can a performance be as impactful as that of Samantha’s.
The actress who ranked second has been widely appreciated for her soap operas. There were speculations about whether or not she would be able to pull off a character as intense as Khanzada Begum in The Empire, but Drashti Dhami made a roaring impression on OTT with her rock-solid performance. She scored 526 votes to rank second on the list.
On number three is Ahsaas Channa for playing Shivangi Ranawat in Kota Factory 2.
Sushmita Sen gets number four for portraying a mother-turned-gangster in Aarya 2. Huma Qureshi’s Rani Bharti caught the eyes of the viewers in Maharaani 2 to land her at fifth position.
Mithila Palkar for Little Things 4, Priyamani for The Family Man 2, Shefali Shah for Human, and Pooja Bhatt for Bombay Begums are amongst the others who grabbed audience attention with their impactful performances.
Team IFTA congratulate the winners and appreciate the audience for supporting them and taking the time to vote.
IFTA hopes to see you again next year with the latest nominations and new results. Do not forget to share your feedback and suggestions.
