IFTA 2022 is an initiative by PolBol Media to facilitate outstanding achievements in Indian film, television, OTT and music industries. It is a first-of-its-kind medium through which the actual receivers of this content – the audiences decides through voting the most deserving winner amongst the nominees.

Unlike other awards, IFTA gives the public or the consumers of the content the ultimate authority to vote and select their winner based on the nominations provided after indepth primary and secondary market research. There is no jury on board to decide these nominations. Instead, a lot of other crucial factors are put into perspective while selecting the nominations like the watch time of a particular show, the popularity, the novelty factor in content, public reception and response, etc.

Over The Top platforms have managed to make enough room for actors who were almost becoming extinct in mainstream movies. They either played sidekicks or secondary characters. OTT not only managed to give them the lead roles but also revived the careers of these yesteryear actors. Hence, the significance of this award grows manifold to applaud the efforts that these performers put into their craft.

Brace yourself! It is time to announce the Winner

Bhiku Mhatre is a character that left a lasting impression on the audience back in 1999. Who would have thought that another character played by this terrific actor after decades will become a household name once again? Yes, we are talking about our dear Family Man, Srikant, who was played splendidly by Manoj Bajpayee. Manoj topped the ranking with 834 public votes, making him the most desirable among the other nominations.

Following Manoj Bajpayee is another household name who has had his fair share of journeys to make it big in the industry. This immensely talented YouTuber, who was known to play multiple characters all by himself surely carved a niche. The streak continued when he decided to create a whole universe out of his talent. Yes, he is none other than the supremely talented Bhuvan Bam, who ranked second on the chart with 655 votes for his performance in Dhindora.

Some honourable mentions

With 496 votes, the character of Dr. Kaushik from Mumbai Diaries 26/11 played by Mohit Raina became the third favourite. Jitendra Kumar attained the fourth position for Kota Factory 2 followed by Saif Ali Khan in the fifth position for Tandav. What’s exciting is the fact that a highly conceptual show that had a very limited audience also managed to make an imprint in the viewers’ heads. The show is Ok Computer and the performance that attained the ninth position is that of Vijay Varma.
